The Governor General's Horse Guards Association is open to all current serving and former members of the Governor General's Horse Guards Regiment, and friends of the Regiment. The Association provides all members of the Regimental Family with an ongoing connection to old friends and current Regimental activities. Throughout the year, the Association hosts several social events, aimed at promoting camaraderie among its members and the serving members of the Regiment.

In 2022, the Governor General's Horse Guards celebrate 200 years of Cavalry tradition and loyal service to Canada. This will be marked by a series of events throughout the year, dedicated to Captain George Taylor Denison and all those that followed, serving with the Regiment and its perpetuated units in almost every conflict facing the nation since 1822.

This all kicks off with the Trooping of the Standard on May 1st. Details on this and other events are now available on the GGHG Cavalry & Historical Society website

Applications are now being received for the Annual King Family - GGHG Bursary. Two Bursaries of $2,500 are awarded annually to members of the Regiment or their immediate family members, thanks to a generous donation made on behalf of the King family. This donation is to recognize the service contribution of both Sgt (Retired) Malcolm King, and his father, Squadron Leader, Ralph G.B. King who saw service in World War II with the RAF and later joined the RCAF.

GGHG takes a lead role in 2020 Warriors' Day Parade

To mark the Regiment's 200 years of cavalry heritage, the Governor General's Horse Guards will play a lead role in this year's Warriors' Day Parade at the Canadian National Exhibition on Saturday August 22.

The Regiment's contingent will be support with vintage armoured vehicles provided by the Ontario Regiment Museum. for the parade.

The Warriors’ Day Parade is is a unique and spectacular event and continues a tradition started after World War I of honouring our Veterans in celebration of various events. and this year the Parade celebrates its 100th Anniversary.

MCpl Brock Henderson Cadet MWO (Ret'd) Priscilla Ma

Congratulations to the Recipients of
The 2021 King Family GGHG Bursary

Congratulations go out to MCpl Brock Henderson (Left) and GGHG 748 Cadet MWO (Ret’d) Priscilla Ma, recipients of this year’s King Family GGHG Bursary. Brock has enrolled in the Police Foundations Program at Seneca and hopes to pursue a career in Law Enforcement while Priscilla starts at McMaster U for her BSc in Kinesiology.

MWO Janet Walker, CD, receives Order of Canada

We're pleased to announce that MWO (Ret'd) Janet Walker, has been appointed to the Order of Canada for her expert legal authority in commercial arbitration and conflict of laws, and for advancing legal procedural standards in Canada.

Janet was a member of the Canadian Forces Primary Reserve 1977-2014 and of the Supplementary Ready Reserve 2014-2019 and has received the Canadian Forces Decoration, the Land Force Central Area Commander’s Award of Excellence and the Governor General's Horse Guards Commanding Officer and Regimental Sergeant Major’s Award of Excellence. She was the longest serving and highest ranking female non-commissioned member in the Regiment and was its first female Bandmaster.
